How to Get This Shot
Seasonality
Year-round spot, but the clearest, darkest skies are most common in the drier months (roughly May–September), when haze and clouds are often reduced and stars pop more.
Winter and shoulder seasons can still work, but expect more passing clouds and wind—plan for flexibility and look for nights with low cloud cover in the forecast.
Photo Tips
- Use Night mode and brace your phone against a railing/tree or use a small tripod
- Tap to focus on the lit trunk, then lower exposure slightly to keep highlights from blowing out
- Try a vertical frame to emphasize the height; leave negative space for stars
- Shoot a few takes—palm fronds move, and one frame will be sharper
- If lights are too warm, adjust white balance/cooler tone in edit for a more natural night look
