Lily Pond Bloom

A vivid pink water lily floats above dark, glossy pond water, with soft green lily pads blurred into the background. The strong color contrast and shallow depth-of-field make the flower pop.

How to Get This Shot

Seasonality
In Hawaiʻi, water lilies can bloom much of the year in warm, calm ponds, so this is a good subject in any season. For the freshest petals and the least wind ripple, aim for early morning; midday sun can create harsh highlights and deep shadows on the petals.
Photo Tips
- Tap to focus on the flower’s center; lower exposure slightly to protect highlights on the petals - Use Portrait mode (or 2x/3x lens) to blur the background and isolate the bloom - Move your body, not the zoom: shift until the lily pads form a clean, uncluttered backdrop - Try a slight angle from above to catch symmetry, then a side angle for more depth - Wipe the lens and watch for glare; shade the phone with your hand if needed
Logistics & Safety
This looks like a landscaped lily pond (common in botanical gardens and resort grounds); stay on paths, avoid leaning over unstable edges, and be mindful of insects and slippery wet surfaces near the water.
