How to Get This Shot
Seasonality
Late spring through early fall often brings clearer skies and calmer trades, which can make ridge detail pop and reduce heavy rain haze.
Winter can be spectacular too, but expect more frequent storms, thicker cloud cover, and fast-changing visibility—great for moody atmosphere if you’re patient.
Photo Tips
- Use 2x–5x zoom to compress the ridges and minimize distracting foreground brush
- Tap to expose for the sunlit slopes so highlights don’t blow out; slightly underexpose if needed
- Shoot a short burst when clouds drift through—one frame will have the best separation
- Hold steady and brace on a railing or pack; telephoto magnifies shake
- Add a person or a small foreground element only if it helps scale (keep it minimal)
Logistics & Safety
This is a high coastal overlook area with steep drop-offs and sudden gusts; stay behind barriers, watch footing on wet ground, and plan for rapidly changing weather and visibility.
